Mary Beth Guevara

When I was young, my parents took me to medical specialist after medical specialist to find out what was causing my low back pain, shoulder pain, stomach pain, dizziness and nausea.  No one could help me.  I figured that I’d just have to live with the pain until I saw a chiropractor.

I suffered with back pain most of my life until I saw a chiropractor in my early twenties.  I was so amazed by my doctor’s depth of understanding of the human body, that on my second visit, I asked him how I could become a chiropractor.  I got great results from his chiropractic adjustments and nutritional counseling.  Soon, I felt better than I had in years.

I attended school at Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri.  My chiropractor had attended Logan College and thought it would be a good fit for me and my beliefs.  He was right.  I received training from doctors who’d been practicing for over fifty years.  I was amazed at the hands-on training that we received and the one-on-one time with doctors who are among the best chiropractors in the country.

I strongly believe that “the power that made the body, heals the body”.  In practice, I try to help remove patients’ barriers to healing.  Be it spinal misalignment, emotion energy blockage, environmental toxins, or soft tissue dysfunction, I enjoy freeing up the body’s energy to begin and sustain the healing process.

I am married to a chiropractor, Dr. Jerry Guevara.  We have a young daughter who is a constant source of wonder to us both.  We are Pittsburgh Steelers fans and love college basketball.  When not watching sports, we enjoy practicing Kung Fu and spending time outdoors.

I receive chiropractic care several times a week.  I have scoliosis, curvature of the spine, and I need consistent, gentle care to keep me feeling good.  I adjust my daughter’s spine, which she thinks is funny.  My mother and my sisters get regular chiropractic adjustments as well.

Dr. John Asks some important questions of interest to Colorado Springs residents - Chiropractor Colorado Springs Dr. John Asks...

How does headache medication find the headache?
It can't! Chiropractors know that when you ingest a drug and it enters your bloodstream it numbs or deadens your entire body. Chiropractic adjustments, on the other hand, are specific, targeted and delivered with precision.
Why are chiropractors wary of the germ theory?
Louis Pasteur originated the idea that germs caused disease. Yet, on his deathbed he recanted, declaring, "It's not the seed, but the soil." Meaning, it's not the germ that causes disease, but the condition of the body that allows the germ to thrive. Chiropractic care in our Colorado Springs office is designed to bolster your resistance so germs don't see you as a good host.
