Dr. Jerry Guevara

Dr. Jerry GuevaraI used to have horrible headaches all of the time.  Since I worked as an electrical engineer, this made it very difficult for me to work.  I took over-the-counter drugs for the pain, but I was worried about the side effects.  When I went to see a chiropractor my headaches went away.

My wife has scoliosis, curvature of the spine, and had two back surgeries and constant back pain. Her doctors told her that she shouldn’t be physically active because she might stress her spinal muscles.  She didn’t like that answer and searched for an alternative.  When she finally saw a chiropractor, her back pain was gone after two visits.  I was so impressed with her results, that when she decided to become a chiropractor, I left my job as an engineer and went along with her.

My wife, Dr. Mary Beth Guevara, and I decided to attend Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri.  Of all of the classes we took, I loved Gross Anatomy Lab the best.  It was fascinating to see how the human body is put together.  I also got to work with Dr. Bert Hanike, a pioneer in Applied Kinesiology (a chiropractic technique) and one of chiropractic’s most respected doctors.  He approaches patient problems with a combination of chiropractic, Chinese medical philosophy, folk medicine, and thinking outside the box using his fifty-plus years of experience in treating the human body.

My philosophy is simple – I work to remove interference from the nervous system so that the body can fully express itself and achieve optimal function.  I use chiropractic adjustments, nutrition, soft tissue work, and spinal decompression in my practice.

My wife is also a chiropractor and we have a wonderful young daughter named Sophia.  I am an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.  My wife and I are enjoying studying Kung Fu together.  That enjoyment may fade when we have to start sparring one another in class.

I get adjusted at least two times per week.  I adjust my daughter often, especially now that she thinks the popping noise in her neck is “funny”.  I treat my parents, my mother-in-law, and sister-in-law on a weekly basis.  We’re a chiropractic family.

Thanks for visiting our web site.  I look forward to sitting down with you and designing a treatment plan that will suit your individual needs. Give our office a call or email me using the link on the website.  I’d be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Dr. John Asks some important questions of interest to Colorado Springs residents - Chiropractor Colorado Springs Dr. John Asks...

How does headache medication find the headache?
It can't! Chiropractors know that when you ingest a drug and it enters your bloodstream it numbs or deadens your entire body. Chiropractic adjustments, on the other hand, are specific, targeted and delivered with precision.
Why are chiropractors wary of the germ theory?
Louis Pasteur originated the idea that germs caused disease. Yet, on his deathbed he recanted, declaring, "It's not the seed, but the soil." Meaning, it's not the germ that causes disease, but the condition of the body that allows the germ to thrive. Chiropractic care in our Colorado Springs office is designed to bolster your resistance so germs don't see you as a good host.
